AERIAL CIRCUS

IMG_0458.JPG

Aerial Circus (7-13yrs) 1hr duration

Our new aerial circus classes allow participants to experiment with a variety of aerial circus apparatus. With a main focus on aerial silks and sling, participants will also enjoy learning skills on lyra hoop and, soon to be added, the trapeze! During an aerial class, we may also use other gymnastics equipment to help gain aerial awareness and understand how to use the body when upside down. For this reason, rings, parallel bars and uneven bars may be utilised within a class.

Aerial circus requires great upper body strength as well as overall body flexibility to perform the daring acts. Classes are designed to help aerialists develop the necessary strength and flexibility required, as well as promote confidence, fitness, social interaction and FUN! Routines will be learnt so participants can piece together skills to flow from one skill into another. They may learn climbs, wraps and drops on each apparatus.

It is highly recommended to wear long pants or tights and a tight top to help limit burns and bruises from the apparatus. It is not uncommon to receive some burns or bruising from performing skills on the silks or hoops, as is the nature of the sport. So, please do not be alarmed by marks particularly on the feet/ankles, inner thighs and around the waist. Participants will learn how to wrap and hold themselves better over time, and so this will reduce.
